Accounts Payable Specialist

Carlock Motorcars Nashville is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounts Payable Specialist to join our accounting team. This position is responsible for managing the dealership’s financial obligations by ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-end automotive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Process invoices with appropriate approvals and ensure proper coding of expenses
Maintain accurate vendor records, including payment terms and contact information
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly
Coordinate check runs, ACH transactions, and wire transfers according to schedule
Support month-end closing by preparing reports and account reconciliations
Uphold compliance with internal controls and financial policies
Maintain thorough documentation for audit and reporting purposes
Assist with financial audits by providing necessary support and documentation
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure smooth financial operations
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management

Qualifications
Prior dealership experience is required
Minimum 2 years of experience in accounts payable or a related financial role preferred
Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial procedures
High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for both internal and vendor-facing interactions
Proficiency in accounting systems, Microsoft Office, and financial platforms
Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines and work independently
Experience with DealerTrack DMS is a plus, but not required
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
Physical Requirements
Ability to work at a computer for extended periods
Effective verbal and written communication
Ability to lift up to 15 lbs. for file handling and office tasks
Regular and punctual attendance is required
Work Environment
Professional office setting with standard business hours
Occasional extended hours may be required based on business needs
Maintain an organized and efficient workspace
